Character Theme of the Month:Perseverance

Our character education theme for this month is ACCEPTANCE.  We will be focusing on accepting ourselves and others, just the way you are.

Acceptance is... Looking for what’s good in ourselves and others.

Acceptance is...Treating others with dignity and respect, even if their viewpoint, race, or religion, is different from ours.

Acceptance is...Encouraging everyone to feel free to be themselves.

Acceptance is...Remembering that everyone makes mistakes.

Acceptance is...Being willing to forgive and forget.

Acceptance is...Following through with consequences for your actions.

Acceptance is...Knowing that true happiness comes from being true to yourself.

The best thing parents can do to help their children grow into considerate, patient, tolerant, accepting individuals is by consistently modeling these behaviors themselves.  By accepting and celebrating the differences in others, we show our children that we value others...even if they look different, or maintain different customs and points of view.
So, throughout the month as we focus on our theme ACCEPTANCE, we invite you to take opportunities to discuss and model acceptance of others...other races, creeds, nationalities, genders, points of view, etc.  Imagine how boring our world would be if we all looked, acted and thought the same way.  During this, ACCEPTANCE month, let’s take the opportunity to celebrate diversity!  As we work together to help our children grow into responsible, respectful, considerate, accepting adults we must always keep the following anonymous quote in mind...”Children may close their ears to advise, but their eyes are always open to example.”

Character is a diamond that scratches every other stone.
