Electricity 1

Time: 9 weeks

Course Objective:  The students will learn the principles of electricity, vocabulary, types of circuits, measuring instruments, basic solid-state devices, and simple formulas.  Students will also develop skills in using simple electrical tools.  An emphasis will be placed on safe work habits.

Safety: Briefing daily, safety test required.

Sequence of Activities

  Week 1 & 2: Safety, principles of operation, design

  Week 3 & 4: Terms, conductors, conduits, boxes, and covers.

  Week 5 & 6: Switches, outlets, tool and equipment service requirements.

  Week 7, 8, & 9: Wiring systems, projects.
