  • Library goals and objectives:
  • Goal-TMS students will be able to locate materials in the Trimpe Library. This knowledge will also help them in the use of the high school and the public libraries. The goal is to create independent library users who can find materials to use for classwork and for personal reading enjoyment.
  • Objectives:
  • Students will receive library orientation (6th grade) and review (7th & 8th).
  • Students will receive instruction in the use of the library database. They will learn to search by author, title, series, call numbers, and subject. The students will also be given instruction using the public library database.
  • Students will learn to use Student Resources in Context (and Opposing Viewpoints, as needed) for research and information gathering.  This database provides information in a variety of sources including periodicals, pictures, and video.  Each item gives the information to properly cite the work.

Rebecca Caudill 2013 Young Reader's  Book Award

Every year we have a "Battle of the Books" based on the newest twenty Rebecca Caudill Award Books nominated by Illinois students and further approved by Illinois teachers and librarians. Students reading five of the twenty titles are the audience in May. Super students who read all twenty of the books on the list are our contestants "battling" for great prizes donated by our school board.
