Dr. Jill Griffin, Superintendent

Greetings Eagle Nation!
I serve as the Superintendent in the Bethalto School District and community. This is my seventh year at the central office. Prior to this position, I served as the the curriculum director, assistant superintendent, principal at Meadowbrook Intermediate for five years. I taught first grade and Reading Recovery for eight years and had the gift of teaching young children how to read everyday.
I graduated from Civic Memorial in 1995. I obtained a Bachelors in Elementary Education in 1999, and a Masters in Instructional Technology in 2001. I was trained in the Reading Recovery program in 2002 as a teacher in Bethalto. I was Nationally Board Certified in 2004 in the area of Literacy: Language Arts for early and middle childhood. I secured a Specialist degree in 2007 in Educational Administration. In 2013, I acquired a Doctorate in the area of Educational Leadership. I consider myself a life-long learner with a growth mindset and someone who is always working to develop in all aspects of my life. I love attending classes to learn professionally, network with peers, and continue to discover all aspects of our profession.
While I am a passionate educator, my most important role is that of a wife and mother of my two children. Ryan and I have been married for 16 years and enjoy spending quality time at home with our children. Bryce is 10 years old and an avid reader and enjoys wrestling, flag football and soccer. Delaney is 8 years old and also loves to read and write, and she enjoys soccer, volleyball and basketball. I also enjoyed athletics as a child, and played softball at the college level. I had the opportunity to be the assistant softball coach at the varsity level for three years when I first came to Bethalto to teach. My hobbies include exercising, reading, traveling and spending time with family and friends.
I want to make a difference with people who want to make a difference, doing something that makes a difference.
